WHAT IS REIKI ENERGY HEALING
The word Reiki is a Japanese term that refers to universal (rei) life force energy (ki). Reiki is widely used as a complementary therapy that restores a person’s natural life force (ki) and enhances the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN A REIKI TREATMENT
In a Reiki treatment session, a certified practitioner acts as a conduit for Reiki to flow through to provide healing energy to the client. The client remains fully clothed and either lies down on a massage table or sits in a chair if that’s better for their body. The practitioner uses a series of hand placements from the client’s head to feet by placing their hands lightly upon or above the body to direct the flow of Reiki to the client for healing purposes. The person receiving the energy of Reiki typically experiences deep relaxation, stress relief and a feeling of warmth and lightness.

Reiki is a gentle, non-intrusive method for increasing your health and balancing your system. Stress, trauma, injury and illness tend to drain our energy, which inhibits our ability to heal. Reiki restores our vital life force and creates the conditions for healing to take place. Reiki can help the physical body as well as our mental, emotional and spiritual states.
REIKI AND THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
Reiki is considered a complement to “healing arts services licensed by the state” of California, meaning that it is a complement to more traditional western medicine provided by doctors, nurses and hospitals. As an alternative medicine, Reiki does not require licensing by the state. Your Reiki practitioner is not a licensed physician and will not interfere with any medical treatment protocol you may be undergoing.
